Don't think there is XPower Green, there is XPower Grey however which is LEF or Tempest Grey in Rover terms.

Ah ok that would explain why I cant find it then lol.
Sorry I just assumed the X power graphics that were on the rally cars were in X power green since the car colour was X-Power grey.
Does anybody know the name of the colour used for them or come accross a similar colour to the green used for the X power graphics?

Interesting I have recenty got an X Power grey (LEF) car and was looking for paint for it but I only found Tempest Grey. Is this definatley the same as X Power grey?

Thanks for the reply

Same here. I put a slight scratch on the grille when I changed the badge so touched it up with my XPG paint pencil. Way too dark!

The best match I found to XPower Green is Kawasaki Lime Green.

I've got a tin of XPower green paint in the shed.... Bob and Sue gave it to us when we bought the car from them. I'm saving it for when my stripes need re-doing! There's no code or anything on the tin but it's from Sport & Racing.

Kawasaki green is definately close though.

The boot, bonnet & bumper on mine are actually green with the black (grey as it's Anthracite) painted over the top!

There is a specialist body shop in Rochester, Kent. They do all my bits & bobs on my cars but the significant thing is that they actually made the XPower Green paint for MGR as MGR couldn't get it right. They therefore painted the Xpower rally cars too.
Call Peter Or Wayne at Mechspray on 01634 847940 & ask if they can help you. Say "MG Andy" sugested calling.

THE orginal "X-Powergreen" was / is a neon 2 coat daylight fluorecent paint.
Same kind of paint as on vehicles like ambulance or fire truck etc.

MIPA is the only manufacture now. In their pages it`s Mipa Special Effect Basecoat / neon (luminous ) green wich is colour number 0600.

This paint needs at first absolutely white undercoat. Then at least 5 spray times because these type of paints won`t "cover" so easily. You can paint about 3-4 square meters per litre. 0600 luminous green is sold on 0,5 L cans only.

Use spray pressure of 3,5 to 4,5 bar and use spraying nozzle size 1,4 mm to get the best result. To improve the stability I do recommend to use mix of 10:1 Mipa neon and Mipa 2K härter. No thinner.

These daylight paints do need 2K-HS Clearcoat ( spray 2 layers ) to resistant UV-radiation.

This paint does make Kawasaki green look like old dirty gray. The difference between them is like day and night.

Ok thanks I shall try the Tempest grey and see how it turns out.

Is there any way to tell what shade is on the car? Or is it just trial and error?

That does look quite a good match. I shall use this if I can’t get any X power green.
Biomorphic is close,if you have any left over, you can donate it to yours truly.......:yup:
Is Biomorphic green a hard colour to get paint for? I also recently bought a Biomorphic green ZR and was hoping to get a few panels resprayed at a body shop.

Many thanks for making picture work, DeMonPaul.

+1 I wouldn’t mind some Livery for the ZR to make it look like the s1600 rally car

Thanks for all the information there, that sounds like a hard process to perfect and I am not sure I could do that with good results. However maybe a body shop could spray it for me.

Thanks for all the replies you have all been very helpful

When I built the ZT520 I ordered 2.5 litres of the special green just in case we had a prang. As has been said before it was mixed by a custom paint firm down south. They said that the tin I bought was the last they were going to make as it required to many expensive paints to make it up. Still have the tin unopened. I think it cost over £500.

Don`t buy gold, buy paint please.

White base coat is in Uk max 20 £/litre + VAT. Hardener for it 10£ and thinner 5 £.
For laguering 1 L HS clear coat in UK is just around 10 £, another hardener for it 10 £.
With these you can paint half of your car.

Amount of neon green depends how large surface must be painted. My 18" wide stripe over Zr needed 5 x 0,5 l. In Alphapaint suplies one can is just over 25 £. So 125 + VAT for wide stripe.

In here the price is about twice as much. All paints, hardeners and thinner for my car painting was 520 € all, including one spare rear bumber and Xpower grey. About paintwork I did not charge from myself anything.

All these you can also have in a spray can if painted area is small. Price in Uk seems to be around 10 / can.
If you cant and you don`t have a friend who can do spray work for you it`s also possible to use clear coat brush, but the surface won`t be A1 class then.

A word about Xpower grey. There are 5 alternative mixing codes for it. 1st and Alt 4 are more lighter, Alt 2 is the darkest. They all do look very different in daylight if compared to each other in the same time.
