What is it about Essex and crappy little nova's, Sazo's and Corsa's. I work in Essex and had the unfortunate pleasure of having to dodge the little ***** on the way to work in the morning.

I had some guy the other day trying to undertake me on the A14 in a Corsa. I waited until he was next to me and then floored the MGZS180, (childish I know?) within a few second I must have put a mile on the Corsa. When will these little s**** stop trying to race against real sports cars. Do they really think they can compete with MG's, Scoobies and Evo's.

I must admit it is a bit of a hobby of mine watching them blow their engines. When I first bought my car a Escort RSTurbo tried to catch me on the A1 and blew his engine. All I heard whas his dump-valve as he changed gear soon followed by a very loud crack and a flash of light. When will these kids learn, you can't beat old fashion power in 2.5L V6.

A young lad near us has a nova that he has had 'tuned' - understand that's teenspeak for putting in new plugs and points.

He used to sit outside and rev the thing, much to the annoyance of the neighbours. I just go outside, laugh, then let the ZS 'snarl' at him.

Life

I understand these toy car drivers attitudes, they need to feel that all that noise and extra tyre size and the bolt on DUSTBIN as a tail pipe are without doubt the best money they spent.
But for the few of us that are lucky enough to own a real machine we need them so we know the money we spent was worth every penny.

"What a scream" I pulled up at the lights and a RST pulls along side;

The night in question, a baseball cap for a head and 25 of his mates all looking sharp left and music so load I now understand why they must be brain damaged enough to think they could get off the line quicker than a child on a 3 wheel bike.

I have see this so much and must cant lie I was one of those 25 mates sat in the back once up on a time, GO ON tell me you never belonged to that club once.

Real fun in the sun to come in my MG.

I have the same trouble but with ZR's and ZS's, they think they can beat the old school MG but I soon prove them wrong. ;-))

ive got no probs with old skool MG Turbo's and give them respect.
IIRC, isn't the fastest FWD in the country a Maestro turbo?

Mastro Turbo

Until it finds a bend. :D :D

MG Metro Turbos were damn good cars, the late tony Pond proved that!

Also believed standard MG Maestro EFis' were very much underrated. The turbo version maybe a llittle over powered- for its chassis.

TIME CHECK Yep tiz 2002 and MGR are now producing wonderful FWD 180bhp ZS180's

Was once overtaken by some similar lunatic, this time in a tarted up Nova. When we got to the ring road, I took particular pleasure in passing that car myself. The blokes inside were obviously furious - there 'tuned' GM mobile not able to keep up??.....try as they may, they couldn't.......and I sailed past them with great delight.

What car was I driving at the time? My Wolseley 2200 'wedge'. They just didn't stand a chance......and I think I was in 3rd gear comfortably too......

What fun!

Yes the fastest FWD rover is a MG maestro with a 1/4 mile time of 12.46.

Mine is no 458/505 and has a T16 turbo conversion which means I have 200bhp going through the front wheels.
I have tried waving at the new MG drivers but I get a kind of "who the hell are you" look back, I realise not everyone is an MG enthusiast but it would nice to get one wave back.
So if you drive a ZED around Essex and you see a white Maestro turbo complete with a load of rust give me a wave.
As I sail past ;)

"MG's, Scoobies and Evo's."

Scoobies = 215 (and the rest!) + bhp
Evo's = 280+bhp
MG ZS (180) = 175 bhp

Not sure you can put the MG in the same league. Nice try though
:D

oh dear

seems some of u with your evo and scooby beating old mans rovers think 180bhp is fast lmao.

zs180s aren't anything special, get a grip, lose the flat caps and rugs off the back seat it might make u a little bit faster!

and underneath ur bright paint and alloys its still an old mans car that isnt very fast.

and putting yourselves in same class as evos lmfao
ur nearer to being in a class with taxis.

i dont expect them to, but you have to laugh at people that think a zs180 is in the same class as an evo.

i just thought that it needed pointing out that these new mgs arent all that.
