So who really thinks their 260 is fast??

Not me!! We swapped our ZT-T190 for the ZT-T260 last year and since then the wife has just used it locally as her main car with me jumping in for a go every now and then for local noisy V8 sounding runs :), the wife had already commented that the 260 didn't seem any faster than the old car but I thought what does she know!! Anyhow, this all changed on Friday when we had to make the 125 miles on a trip to London disappear fast as we were late. What a disappointment the car is!! It seems breathless and lacking in performance and it doesn't compensate by giving good fuel economy either.

We used our old 190 for a trip to Alicante in Spain and it just eat the miles up and even at speeds of over a ton it still returned really good economy, yes the 260 is a more special car but IMHO the 190 is a better car out of the box.

So, what to do as I still like the car other than it being a snail?? I have a LS2 6litre Corvette engine at work and am going to get the measuring tape out!! The LS2 makes
400hp in standard trim and another 100 can be had very easily/cheap.

he only did one run so could have improved a bit no doubt and the gearchange is not exactly swift on the 260 is it, my zs was an honest couple of hundred kilos lighter than standard and 35 bhp up too.
I have just bought a 260 with a blower
It is fast enough for my needs
And more than fast enough for 99.9% of normal road use.

Overtaking is pretty much point and go.
I have not had this level of pickup available since I stopped using motorbikes
This week while driving my supercharged car Paul came across a new Monaro with an owner who wanted to play. Five standing starts later Manaro 0 MG 5. On a good surface 0 to 60 about 5.1 secs. Due to the cars weight the 0-60 is not what its about its the 0-140 that is impressive. Even the standard car is good once its got the huge mass moving its all about torque. Just had our last conversion on the rolling road 435lbs.
Oooh... I can't wait! Just negotiating with M. to see when I can fly over and pick her up :D

You have succumbed Alistair. Congratulations, really pleased that you have.

Must meet up sometime.
Yes Jerry, the dark side beconing was too much and I got tempted, the car needed a bit of work after laying out all winter so thought "what the hang" just get it all done at the same time.
Flying over on Monday to pick up the car, been instructed to pick up some DIY stuff that the better half can't get in Belgium on the way back too.
Will be heading towards Dover on Wednesday for the ferry, times are a little flexable as I have some business to conclude up near Glasgow while I'm there.
Picked up the car yesterday, Paul was kind enough to pick me up from the airport and let me drive him back to callandar. The run through the Clyde tunnel was nice but too much traffic to give the car much beans. In the local Asda car park today I gave the throttle a short sharp tap and set off a load of car alarms :) Installation of the kit is up to the very high standard I expect from Dreadnought, the car feels alive and responsive, it feels like it has finaly been run in. A big thanks to Paul, Brian, Claire and Jimmy for all the effort they have all put in.
aaah come on we need pics and a good write up ..lol.
Lol have to wait until I get home, I catch the ferry tomorrow and I think I'll take a little detour via the autobahn ...
I can only say this..........
1) a business colleage has one, and gave me a ride in it, I WANT ONE.
2)yes, it is big, heavy, and thirsty, I WANT ONE>
3)Its not particularly "fast and stump pulling", I WANT ONE.
4)I dont care what anybody says, I WANT ONE
5) Im 50 next year, and insurance is reasonable now,I WANT ONE.

There, anybody who has been in one MUST agree.

Mike.
some chap off here ran a charged zt-t at pod and it made a 14.4 at 99 mph which is same terminal my zs used to run nasp.
Was at Bitburg 4 years ago with the 260 and put it up the track, it was in the rain and not being timed, I was crossing the line just into 4th at between 95-100mph and I was not trying. We were giving passenger rides up the track and had a lot of fun that day, looking forward to going back for a "proper go" :D
Was at the local drag shop today enquiring about a set of sticky tyres for the back of the car

Alistair - sounds as though you are a very happy man. Well done Dreadnought for making someones life a little happier. :D

Best we have a drag race when my machine is run in. :)
ha sounds like fun, can i join in ,lol.
The gtr spanks everything from a standing start so i suggest a rolling start just to even things up a bit....in my favour

I have seen tuned new GTR's at 'Pod run high 10's and low 11 second 1/4mile times at a recent day for the new "Fast& Furious" film.

Then again these had around 600bhp and took off like rockets with seamless shifts and no drama.:racer:
im a little confused, my mates got a old bmw m3 with 260+ bhp and does 0-60 in about 6.4 seconds or so, and thats feels quick, so does my zs which is quick and everyone else seems to think they are quick as well yet a zt which does the same is a slug?? surely you guys are crazy!! i'd love a zt260, reviews seem good too. its not really a slow car is it
I'm with you mate ....

I reckon the car might "feel" slow as you get used to it. The figures speak for themselves as the man says. It IS a quick car. It's not quick in peaks though as far as I understand. It's a constant due to the torque. I know my ZS is quick, but yesterday I took a guy out in it to get some DIY stuff, and without even gunning the car he was amazed at how much it pushed him back into the seat. It's all about what you're used to.

Remember it's also a pretty well screwed together car so the speed is disguised.

Anyway ... Jan 2011 and I'm 40. A ZT-V8 is all I want. And .... I will have one.
I don't know anything about 260s, but I'm starting to get very interested so sorry if this is a numpty question - if you're going to build a modified 260 wouldn't it be better to swap to the 4v engine, or is it too wide? Surely that engine is a better base engine than the 2v unit.
In short not enough space.

The ZT's with the 4v engine have lost most of the cabin comfort controls which are not needed as they are race cars.

I have had two
Sold my black Mk2 with the intention of getting a ZTT as that seemed a sensible choice
dithered for a couple of years as I was missing the way the car drove and felt as it is difficult to describe other than being fairly irresistable.

Ended up buying a Renault Grand Scenic for family duties so when I noticed the ZT400 I have now up for sale on the two-sixties forum it was simply a matter of negotiating the right price

400bhp really suits the car, ovetaking is simplicity in itself in any gear except when it is raining then it is an exercise in being extremely light on the throttle or lots of wheelspin.

I am now 49 I have the car insured with Peter Best £295 so insurance should not be a reason not to go out and buy one.
Glad you like it.
Glad you like it.
I imagine there is a steady stream of people buying your kit Brian.

BTW: Has Martin finished this car yet?
i doubt if he has even started to be honest, as all has been quiet for a long time.
