Assuming you don't have access to a press which makes the job really easy, one method I used which worked was to burn the rubber part of the bush, then cut the metal shell with a hacksaw, brutal but effective.

yeah ive considered burning the rubber out and cutting the shell. will it takemuch to cut? also if i was to bash it out would i be correct in saying it has to come from the inside - out?

Yes inside to out, cutting it wasn't to bad, iirc I didn't need to cut all the way through it, just enough to weaken it a bit, then hit it with a punch and hammer, btw if you are fitting poly bushes you will need to re-use the metal shells so cutting them wouldn't be good.
