Parts should arrive on Tusday for my car - that'll be 12 days without it (well really longer) as I had to use the Mits to ensure it could go in to be sorted.

Starting to get peeved. I'm paying for a car I'm not driving! :(

Too true - doing loads of miles in - basically no choice at the moment.

The trackday weapon is being worn out! :(

Will be the start of Week 5 without the 260 on Wednedsay - reason lack of parts!

NB: Do you all remember the quote in Autocar that "Classic" 260 buyers would be looked after following the launch of the 2004 model. :(

AC performance 260

Jerry
I see what you mean! As we have had a few high temp. days the AC is not working up to the standard of the ZT-T, and for that matter the 160.
One more thing for Dutton-Forshaw to look at on recall.
That is if the modified fuel pump ever comes, and it's been eight weeks since learning about the recall.

OK,

My 260 is now "home" after being out of sorts for 5 weeks.

We still have a ZT135 on the drive and the comparisons are very marked.

The 135 ac (like the 190 and R75 - is very good). The 260's isn't as efficient but it now works much better than before.

Are you trying to say something Mike? ;)

The problem with my car was a faulty TX valve.

NB: For Mikes info the heater box with the TX valve on it was made by Elite - saw the manufacturs sticker on it 2 weeks ago.

Hi Jerry,

Firstly, I doubt very much the TXV was faulty. The TXV used is the same product (different setting) as that used by Toyota/Honda/BMW/Jag/etc etc and they very very rarely fail.

Basically, the A/C unit in the V8 really is a hacked up version of the superb unit designed and installed in the normal 75/ZT. I know the A/C unit very very well indeed, and can tell you that the OEM manufacturer of the system had no involvement in the V8 mods due to basically zero development budget from MG-ROVER. The unit starts live as the exact 75/ZT unit taken from the stores, and then striped, literally cut apart and then re-patched together.

If your system works to an acceptable level, then believe me it is just luck, and most of them will perform very poorly indeed.

No dealer would be able to improve the system performance, as it is awful to start with.

Kaine, thanks mate.

For me a civil environment in a luxo barge is very important. Imagine at LeMans at 35 degrees with your b**** being fried off. Not happy!
