Stick a thermometer over the centre air vent with the a/c on - what temperatures do you see?

It is a shame you have had problems, Jerry. Maybe if there was a wider approved dealer network for the V8, you could hunt out a better garage.

It would be unfortunate if you got rid of the car so soon after buying it, particularly due to the wait you have had (maybe it is better, as my father says, to wait until the car has been in production a year or so with plenty on the road to get the faults ironed out).

What about writng to MGR directly, explaining the situation?

Stupid question, perhaps, but do MGR 'block' any of the vents etc of the A/C Unit for shipping? If so, maybe one wasn't cleared during PDI.

If it can't be fixed I'm getting rid of it.
Jeez, never thought I'd hear you say that Jerry. But as you're no doubt aware, I'm feeling exactly the same about mine. Can we still stay on the forums without an MG?

The car goes and sounds brill, but I've done 3000 miles in it and like my creature comforts. The "Climate Control" is vitally important and if it doesn't work then the car is not living up to its specification.

Nope - any old T,D & H can sell 'em.

Different kettle of fish when it comes to the 385 & SV

Why did the dealer I bought my ZR from say when I asked if someone wanted a V8:

'I don't know what we'd do - MGR wanted 50K for us to be an approved dealer'

I took this to mean ALL V8s.

The V8 does need specialist equipment and I guess some won't invest in it. That's maybe why they don't sell them (but all dealers have the opportunity unlike the SV).

Added some more faults for the dealer to fix next week!

1) Towbar fitment.
2) Climate fix.
3) Fuel pump replacement.
4) Rattling pax window.
5) Replacement rear # plate.
6) Whine from the radio (suppression noise).
7) Both light lenses steaming up (both sides).
8) Rust where the front off side wing has been moved at factory PDI! Plus a strange rusty colour on the engine undertray to investigate!

Sadly it would seem you have the "Friday afternoon 260" Jerry.
Now done 400 miles in mine - its great - no problems at all and can't wait to let rip on the revs once the running-in is over.
As for the aircon - yes it ain't the same (or as efficient) as the 190+ I had. That said its cooling works well (in a different manner to the 190) and I have no complaints yet. I will have to wait and see if the heating output is good enough under real pressure but a +2C morning yesterday suggested it could be!
Happy/smiley driving from me from now on - the rest of the car is just too good to let a reduction in AC efficency put me off it - its is so much better as a driver's car than the 190+ I had for nearly 2 years - and that's saying something! - I could never go back now. Mine's well built - feels a real solid cruiser with ample performance and at the price I paid, I do not believe I could have found a better value performance car - and its built in GB! (No I don't work for MGR - if any cynic reading this is sceptical of my praise!). Another 700 miles to do this W/E so another update next week.
Cheers

Tallbeans,

I agree the drivetrain is fantastic. I'm sure my minor problems won't spoil the fun once fixed next week As you say its a GB built 8-pot fun machine.

Cars been at the dealers since last Thursday - might get it for Saturday! :(

They found the AC - TX valve at fault (whatever that is as SPANNERS predicted).

Glad they found the problem, but the AC has always been compromised on the V8s.

Cast your mind back when I filled you in on the early modifications that were done by Elite unless they changed tack its a hacked up system.

AGAIN Dave?

It was replaced and still at fault (replaced again). The car was delivered for its fix a week last Thursday (Friday today and still without the car - 9 days). TBH, I don't care as long as the faults are rectified.

It's just they can (and do) give trouble, that's all!
