Going for the first MOT since I've owned the '53 Mk1 MG ZS 180 tomorrow...

Since Christmas when I got the car I've paid out on;

Dec 09 - Clutch slave cylinder went - £250

Feb 10 - Drove into a deep puddle, loose air intake hose sucked water up and hydrolocked the engine. New engine needed - £2300 (fortunately covered by insurance)

April 10 - New tyre needed... resulted in 2 new tyres, new discs and pads and a damaged caliper - £800

May 10 - reversed into a jutting out concrete ledge and smashed rear light and dented boot. Boot not repaired yet but got a replacement light on ebay for £25

June 10 - MOT... :-/ Exhaust is sounding extra throaty the last couple of weeks... How much is a replacement exhause?

How much more is this money pit going to cost me??? :(

Please all keep your fingers crossed for me!

Cant remember the last time someone posted anything about a 180 failing a MOT

Cheers Paul!

Had a brief period of failure but fortunately minor bits. Couple of blown bulbs, headlight adjustment, bunged up washer jet and rubber bit missing from break paddle.

Couple of advisories too - Slight leak on power steering pipe, centre exhaust blowing a bit, a chip in the windscreen, one worn tyre close to limit.

Much more successful than I'd feared! :)

Legal motoring again! WOOOO! :)

Mine was failed by a rip off garage who claimed headlight beam was misaligned. Had it checked by Kwik Fit and there was nothing wrong. They also claimed my rear number plate bulb was blown. It wasn't. But yeah, I've never failed on anything mechanical or emission wise.
