Well myself and a couple of friends are thinking about entering the Mongol Rally next year or maybe 2013. For those of you that don't know it's a completely unassisted drive from Goodwood Uk to Mongolia, around 10,000 miles, in the most inappropriate cars you can find. http://www.theadventurists.com/the-adventures/mongol-rally

The cars need to be no older than 10 years old (2003 +) with an engine size of 1L or less....

So my question to you guys and girls is, can anyone suggest a good car for this job, needs to be 3 seater at least. I have looked at all the normal ideas Toy IQ, Smart etc but really want something a bit different. All ideas are welcome.

I have come up with the Maruti Alto http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maruti_Alto#Maruti_Alto but can't find any for import or for sale in the UK. Ugly little thing but somthing not everyone will have!

Thanks for the help

Rusty

What's wrong with a Reliant Robin? That's even "innapropriate" for a trip to Tesco's.

Too old, last production was 2002, had thought of that, would have been great!

I forgot to say in the first post that the cars have to be within the 10 years limit 6 months after the race finishes for some reason!

My friends have just done this in an old Ambulance, so the age rule is only for cars....

good luck with it - it needs to be something that is simple to fix, as they had a number of issues that had to be fixed en-route
