Does anyone know whether any aftermarket performance parts are available at present or if there are any future plans for such parts to be produced for the MGZR range.

Parts I am interested in are Big vented discs, stainless exhausts, engine tuning mods and so on....

If anyone has any info it will be appreciated....;)

It depends what you are after.

Moto Build in Hounslow do a fair bit of stuff e.g. bodykits, brakes, air filters, etc.

However, I would not go to them as they are quite expensive and I do not rate them after a few bad experiences.

If you are after power, then the boys to talk to are the the Elise boys. The Elise uses the same engine, and with some work, it is possible to get the 1800 K up to around 180 - 190 BHP. This is using a VHPD cylinder head (Very High Performance Derivitive). There is nothing new to any of this and it is basically a properly ported and gas flowed head.

If you want to spend even more money then one company even does a Turbo upgrade!!!

Lots of stuff is available on the web and somwe people are well into it so try surfing around.

Air Filters

Interesting article in a recent issue of Fast Car about airfilters.

Described what types are available and the characteristics of each.

Pity that the rest of the mag seemed concerned with sticking pointless bits of plastic on average cars, why not save the time and expense and get an MG Z in the first place.

I think it as all been said before.

Matts advice is good - use one of the well known tuners. Ive listed some under my Links page:

http://www.xpower-mg.com/MG-Rover Links.htm

But Minster - Moutune - Moto-Build & Turbo Techniques spring to mind! However, I doubt it won't be long before MGR are doing this themslves. As already said LOTUS tune the Elise engine. Their latest 135bhp upgrade is such a car (sounds familiar). :D

I believe that the throttle bodies from the 160 can be used to improve performance.

John

Not another mag I need to buy - if the article is worth scanning might save me a buy. :D However, induction/breathing can give some serious power gains. K & N openly bragg about 8 bhp for the 120bhp K and 15 for the VVC. :D

Throttle Bodies

I have been looking for more power from my ZR-160. I have had a heatshielded induction kit installed already and this is good for 7bhp over standard, this has all been tested on Viper motorsports rolling road in Southampton. I have spoken to Pug Performance in Alton and although they specialise in Peugeot they have found some Alpha Throttle bodies that will fit the K Series engine. They reckon that it will be good for between 18-28 Bhp over standard.

Quite an expensive mod but loads cheaper than a turbo !!!

I'm hoping for 180 BHP ++

With this and a nice brake upgrade this should keep me smiling for quite a while ! I have also been having problems getting some 330mm brake discs. If anyone has some info then that would be much appreciated.

Cheers

Brakes

I notice in the pictures of your MGF it's an Evo VII that you have, very nice. I looked at them while importing my Supra Twin Turbo. They were a little more expensive and had fewer brake than the Supra, hence the choice !!

I have heard of AP racing before, and will look into them, they seem to be able to do one off kits aswell so this maybe the better route.
