Hi guys,

I am owner of MG ZR 160 1.8 Petrol VVC. And it's an amazing car.. I really like it.. But I got into serious problem. My engine blown up and now I am in need of one piston and 2 conrods because those are somehow in bad conditions.. the previous buyer just kept in secret certain things and I figured it out, but it was too late.. nevermind.. I need to get these parts, and I found them here in store..

Are these conrods original part (may I get only two of them) and will these items fit my car? thanks for any advice..

those are forged pistons

what you want is this original part: LFL000800 (but they are in backorder at the moment) and cost +230€ for one conrod and piston. and I guess you also going to change the bearings?

that's near 1000€ for 4. (but then off course you say you only need 1 set)
forged pistons and forged conrods aren't that much more. So while the engine is open you can change the internals. Are you sure the others are still fine?? did you measured them up?
unless you want to keep things standard.

well.. I think I have these options:

1st: get standard parts and change only what I have to, but to get standard parts for me seems almost impossible.. I was talking to people for 3 weeks now.. no one has it or it's sold out or they just won't have it anymore..

2nd: get new internals (from this shop) what (as I understood it) means to change all 4 pistons and all 4 rods..

Or do I need to change also liners or anything else? Do I need new bearings if the original ones are good?

I am not very knowledge in engine parts and these things.. I need advice if I have to spend over 1000€..

and I have one more question.. there is no availability information for those forged pistons and rods on the store included in this domain.. Does that mean, they have everything in stock?

- look at the sponsors of the site, contact them and they can send you the parts, But if they're not available it can take a while

-If you buy from xpower, ptp,... you get 4 pistons, 4 conrods,...
If you measure your bearings and they are in tollerance, have no marks,... you can re-use them in theory. But for the price that it cost I would take newones. You can also buy uprated. You can go as far as you want. Some may say you also need a steel cranck, others say just stay with standard...

normally they have those parts in stock.

I think you need to know for yourself if you want a standard car or if you know you want some more power. If you think 157 bhp is enough and you just use the car to go to work. then forged pistons, conrods,... would be silly money. If you already have some breading mods and you want to go further then this is a chance to uprate the "weakest" part of the engine. And then it would be stupid not to do it.

I understand.. I mean, the main problem and the reason why I am having an eye for the forged parts is that I do have real difficulties to get the standard ones.. I contacted all sponsors of this site and I'll wait for reply.. if there will be no change in situation, I'll probably get forged and I'll be happy to have some more extra power under the hood.. money is problem, but maybe it's the only way for me.. because my car is broken for 7 months now.. terrible situation and I am really getting nervous

And I have one more question.. if I'll go with forged tools.. I heard some guys telling me, that I have to use only 100 octane petrol and that I just can't tank regular petrol, because it may damage the pistons.. is that true? what do you think?
