Hi, mine has been converted to LPG. Would have no hesitation in recommending it, provided you cover enough miles to warrant the initial outlay. Fortunately mine was already converted by the previous owner, so i get all of the benefits. Its a BRC system, which seems to be very well suited to the engine. I have covered comming up 25,000 miles in past two years with no issues at all. LPG is .49p a litre around where i live, and get approx 18-19mpg. So, its the equivalent of nearly 40mpg in petrol terms. The only additional cost of having LPG is an annual gas service to change the filters etc and give it a check over. The only downside, is you loose half the boot. I have a 90 litre tank fitted, but still leaves a fair amount of space, but it gives me in excess of 300 miles range before needing to fill up. Plenty of LPG pumps around, most the BP and Shell now stock it, so no issues in looking for re-fills.
Another benefit is a slight reduction in road fund tax, as dvla class it as an alternative fueled vehicle, provided you send them a copy of the instalation certificate.
Hope that helps.

The latest multipoint LPG systems are wonderful. You'll not notice any drop off in performance.

Fitted and configured correctly in the outset there is no reason that the system shouldn't cover many thousands of miles.

Does anyone have the liquid injection type of LPG installed. I read that that has advantages in charge cooling and can make virtually the same bhp as for petrol because of the cooling effect of direct lpg injection and better volumetric efficiency.
I noted otherwise that the gas type kits are becoming more reasonable in cost and it does not lool like rocket science to fit one.

Good option to have if you use the car every day. Brian recommends that the two are not put together.

As an add-on around 10 cars that I'm aware of have the LPG and around 25 have the s/c as an add on and not production fit. None have both

Anyone else have any experience of LPG and conversions on the ZT260?

Can it be done to the supercharged cars?

Not the same vehicle, but the wifes Volvo is a 3 litre twin turbo straight six 272bhp. It runs on the Prins VSI system with no problems. I therefore cant imagine the S/C would be a problem.

There are certain cars that can't be LPG'd

Jaguars are a particular example

they have soft valve seats on the ford v6 and v8 (well all fords to be honest) and with long term use (40 thou plus) you get valve seat recession and lose compression on cylinders

If you get the right engine though LPG is awesome

I have had a vectra and an omega v6 on lpg and my mate has had an octavia VRS and an accord type r on gas and all were awesome - we do some SERIOUS milage as well

Coming up to 60000 miles on the clock about 48000 on lpg engine just about run in compression normal on all cylinders. When my car was getting getting gassed they guy had just finished gassing a ford lightning SC pickup which is roughly the same as oure V8s. Ok in my opinion you need to upgrade the coil packs and use LPG plugs but that all.

Not so, they just install an automatic system with an addative that compensates for soft valves.

Shame about that! Thanks for the info!
Ask the experts - www.lpgforum.co.uk - all of the installers on there are the good ones, if it will work they will know.....likewise if it can't they will know.
