Has anyone else had trouble getting the correct lower ball joint?

Fitted a replacement but the taper on the joint itself appears to be too small, will not grip the carrier and has up and down movement.

Does anyone have the correct part number as there seems to be several variations.

I used a FAI part - SS728, which came with a circlip but the old one didn't have one.

Its a bit confusing, especially when ordering pattern parts.

If my understanding is correct I need the RBK100381 for a ZS 180?

I'd agree RBK100381 or RBK100381P, the first one is genuine mgr, the second a pattern part.

Looking at that Rimmers page makes it really confusing, my understanding is that there are 2 ball joints, one for 1400cc and 1600cc, and one for the bigger engines.
