At least they're consistently the least reliable.

At least some traditions remain from the days they were part of Rover Group lol.
They are going to get reliability issues when they are using the latest technology!! It's got to be proved somewhere after all But as to weather the customers car is the rite place to be trialing it is debatable!! Luckily footballers love them so there is a massive following!!

Dunno, Footballers are a pretty small demographic and they don't all drive Range Rovers. Not sure that they do much for the image of the car either. They used to be a country gent's wheels now they're associated with the garishness of the Nouveau riche! There's reasons why Land Rover survives, but I don't think that's it.

No they don't all drive Range Rovers but just look how many do!! Then there are actors, singers and the like in public view!! All this is good advertising which keeps Land Rover ahead of rivals in image dispite the dubious reliability!!
I'v had something out of the Land Rover stable for the last 10 years or so and tbh found them more reliable to a degree than some rivals at least.
Personally, wouldn't touch one with a barge pole. Used the early ones on motorway patrol. 11mpg and off road for months waiting for new gearboxes when they failled.

the new generation of land rovers are turning out to be alot more reliable than there predecessors, fortunately for JLR,regardless of reliability customers love the brand and love the cars.

ROVER/MG & Landrover are 2 totally different companies & have been for over 10 years!

Rover's are not expensive to fix if you compare to many cars, the HG is an issie but MGR are not alone with that issue. Other manufacturers have other equally expensive faults.

My new R.R. Evoque had a dead battery 2 weeks ago & now the screen controlling the audio, video, sat-nav, phone etc is US.:bh:hammerhea

Ahh well at least I have the trusty Rover 25 lol.
Haha, oh dear. When I say theyre better than they used to be, they don't suffer so much with silly problems like they used to, they generally are software issues, theres a good chance the fix for your screen is just a download to update the software in the module.
Don't get me wrong they're not perfect, but the newer cars are a big improvement on older cars
I am on Land Rover No.6

Defender 110 county 200tdi
Discovery 1 3.5 V8
Discovery 2 4.0 V8 es
Discovery 2 4.0 V8 es premium
Discovery 3 4.4 V8 HSE
Discovery 3 4.4 V8 SE

The cars do have there faults, mainly electrical, but none has ever left me stranded. All have been used as they are designed. I have tried other 4x4 brands including the supposedly mighty Land cruiser 4.2 amazon which was far less reliable than any Land rover. No other brand builds a car as capable or as useful in one package. The Discovery 3 seats 7, its can be a van, it has leather and sat nav and every gadget you could ever want, but is quite capable pulling trailers across boggy fields or coping with the depest snow thrown at us. I live in Teesdale and when it snows it snows.
The problems tend to be the electronic park brake, and air suspension. Both are basic electrical faults but still leave the car useable.
Cheaper to service than alot of other brands, especially if you use an independant.
I rely on a 4x4 and wouldnt have any other brand.

Battery went flat again so called out Landrover Assistance who rebooted the canbus system/body control unit then screen came back to life, charged the battery and has been fine since so maybe something in the BCU was draining the battery.
Jaguar land rover is currently britain's (india's) fastest growing vehicle manufacturer, they are so loaded with electrical hardware things are going to cause problems, just wait for tata to start building the plant to build rovers then the fun will begin.
We have a Defender - no problems with that. LR is Indian financed but its hell of a lot more British than Wongbridge. AND, I would of, should of bought a Disco instread.

Unlike a MG or two I owned in the past.
LR production line is 24 hours a day now. Big orders from China and Russia.

they look good and do the job off road, prob the best but if your paying that much money u want the car to be A1, nissan seem to lead with reliabilty these days

I tried the pathfinder and it was useless. They are no way near LR products. The cars feel flimsy and certainly cant pull what the LR can.
As for reliability the Pathfinder had regular visits to the dealership, I think in the first 4 months of ownership it spent atleast half back at the dealers. Common faults included injectors, battery going flat for no reason, electric seats pushing you into the steering wheel while driving and problems with the ridiculous sat nav.
Nissan dont collect your car and leave you a courtesy car equivelant to your own either. I had to take the car to them and get a micra courtesy car, ideal on a farm.
On the other hand Land rover collect the car, and leave me with something similar, and at times I have even requested a tow bar and it has been arranged.
They may have problems at LR, but the customer after care is second to none.

thanks for the reply, i have found nissan pretty reliable, but everyman for there own, love the new land rover, but price/problems put me off, no 1 will ever beat the landrover for off roading but they are built preety poorley and now there 24hr things can only get worse in my eyes
