Every single time I get into my zs and turn on the ignition i am met with the two-tone immobiliser buzzer and have to disable the immobiliser by pressing the button on the fob.

This happens every single time!

I had this happen on the odd occasion in my previous zs but not like this.

I've changed both fob batteries and it does it with both fobs.

I also make sure I'm not masking the fob when I turn on the ignition.

Both fobs are also very unresponsive unlocking the doors or boot. I usually have to stand next to the car waving the fob around trying to get the doors to unlock.

Any ideas?

could be the alarm box playing up, this is behind the speedo on the "B" post, if you stick your head under your dash and look up you can just see it, its a black box, also check the reciver for the fob behind the cowling, it fits round the ignigtion barrel

EDIT** T4 machine can check for problems with the alarm

Might sound daft but it was a loose terminal connection on the car battery that was causing this on my car. Or lets say when I tightened the terminal the problem resolved instantly. A year later the immobilizer started playing up again. This time I found out the car battery was shot. As soon as I fitted a new battery the problem went away again. It can't have been coincidence on both ocassions. Not saying it's what's causing your immobilizer to malfunction but worth having a look at it.

I reckon you've got the wrong type remote - has anyone ever programmed in another remote to your car?

I'm not sure - I can ask ralph at ems. I thought all fobs were the same as long as they're programmed to the car. Obviously there are the old style remotes but a mk2 doesn't use those.

If I unlock the car and start the car immediately wellnwithin 30 seconds it will still do it.

Very annoying!

Aren't the doors supposed to lock automatically after 30 secs? Mine used to but not anymore for some reason. The red immobilizer light in the dash starts flashing but doors stay unlocked and ignition works normally. Has anyone else experienced this?

doors lock only after you pull away @ apprx 3 MPH. i think this can be turned off? maybe you did it by accident.
I swear my doors used to lock automatically after 30 seconds. I even remember standing outside the car with my mate to show it off , telling him what a cool feature it was. Please tell me I haven't lost my mind!!!

Oh right, yeah if you unlock with the fob but dont open a door it will relock itself after 30 seconds. A bit like KITT used to in the 80's.

Ahh!! (Smacking forehead). Thanks for that. Had the car over 4 years now and never figured it out until now. Well-earned + added to your rep! :D

Guys, whilst this thread is up I'll repost my similar problem to see if there's any more help available...

Basically, the car won't unlock with the fob (no doors at all) so I have to use the fob to disable immobiliser than unlock with the key.

When you set off, the door locks again (all do this if unlocked) like they should.

Then when I stop, they don't unlock when you turn the engine off, or when you push the button on the dash (mk2 only)

Any ideas what this could be or how I fix it?

Ben

When I first bought my zed, I had very similar problems and the dealer had to replace the whole immobilizer system (and possibly the EMU?) at his own cost. Thank goodness they didn't quibble about it or I would have been some £900 out of pocket. At least that's the figure I remember them quoting. TBH, I doubt that there is an easy fix to this. You might have to take it to a specialist.

Well thank goodness for that. Disregard my previous alarmist post then.(no pun intended)
ha ha I was thinking has he read the above post lol. I reset the ecu at the same time and it seems fine now. Unlocks from a reasonable distance to the car and the immobiliser isn't being a pain either
