Can anybody help with this problem? I have a ZT260 and the airconditioning compressor of my car seized. I bought the car recently from a Honda dealer (is had been traded in on a hybrid!). The dealer insisted on fixing the car himself. It took more than a week to find a new compressor for 600 GBP in the UK. The dealer reported that also some hoses were leaking and had to be changed for new ones.
When the car was repaired the same phenomena occurred within 10 miles: the V8 started idling very irregularly (a sign that something was seizing) and the belt tensioner started moving up and down very fast (also a sign that something was wrong). I decoupled the compressor as soon as I could by pushing the off button of the airco, but the odor was so bad that I suspect that the compressor has seized again. Is anybody familiar with this problem? Any advice, any ideas?

Probably better asking here - http://www9.mgcars.org.uk/mgoc260/f0rum/

The car is prone to this, not just the V8 but all ZT's and 75's have a weak aircon compressor. I tend to only put mine on during the summer.

By the sound of it the aircon has not been looked after which is why you are also getting the smell. Bactria in the filter.

Welcome along Ton
