A stone hit my windscreen on the M5 and I have a crack about 2 inches on it. I'm not covered for windscreen repair, and to be honest I wouldn't claim anyway.

SO, I need a windscreen repair or replacement

1) Can you recommend someone? ( West Midlands )
2) How much roughly for a windscreen REPAIR
3) How much for a windscreen replacement

Just booked for MOT today, so not finding this funny at all.

Cheers all

Cheers Steve!!! I've give them a bell!

Just posted this on zr.co.uk, quotes I just got:

Right, what do you reckon:

a friend with a garage can seal the crack for about £30 - will still be an advisory, but he reckon's it wont fail it's MOT (Out of driver's view, about 2 inches long, just top glass layer)

Autoglass quoted (Are you ready?)
£387.81! - When I said "HOW MUCH?" it went down to:
£276.91

- Oh and, autoglass don't know what an MG ZR is!!! I had to say "Shares the sam body as a Rover 25, built by MG Rover but appears as "MG ZR" on registration document." he thought my reg was a private one. Not impressed.

I've never heard of these guys before:
http://www.windscreenshalesowen.co.u...FZL92AodIRRMOg

and will do it for:
£130.37

So obviously, I'm a little happier with that. NOW, I love my Zed, and as I've never heard of national mobile windscreens I want feedback - what do you guys reckon?

I used to use National Mobile Windscreens at work, never had a problem with them.

Our company used to cut and strim verges on MOD sites, Army, Navy and RAF, from Plymouth up to Kings Lynn. Used to do side windows in, on a regular basis. Always say its not an insurance claim, as that seems to lower the price a bit.

Typical, always happens when the MOT is due. Hope you can get it sorted.

Cheers Sharron, Hopefully I'll have the old girl back on the road soon, and that she flies through the MOT without costing me too much (Worried about the exhaust, which is nearly 9 years old).

I'm going to have a another ring-around session again tomorrow and see what I can get in terms of quotes, don't think I can beat 130 for a standard windscreen!

Autoglass are shoddy.

Took them 2 new windscreens and £300 in a bodyshop to correct my car.

If the windscreen is removed insist on new side trims/seals.

£130 isn't bad for a new screen! Bet you won't get new trims for that though.

Any idea what the trims cost? Mine has Honda ones fitted now, exactly the same.

OK, what are windscreen trims then?

This is so ****ing stressful! They insist it'll be a like for like job, and comes with the green tint.

Through insurance?

The trims are the exterior seals/plastic strips that run down either side of the window.

The clips are really single use, if reused it will look gash.
