Was going to pay £10 a corner this morning to get my new rubber fitted up front as current tyres are just about legal and not too good in this damp weather.

Just so happens that the guys were in at the nearby wheel specialists so popped in to see them. Booked in for Tuesday morning for full wheel refurb, chrome valves, and me new rubber fitted and all balanced. Short walk to work then collect her at 3.30pm. Sorted.

Sounds like a plan, how much are they charging for the referb?

They quoted me £360 as proper price but got it down to £280 as we've had a few sets done there now over the years. Also saved £20 by not having the two tyres fitted this morning. So all in all not too bad I guess.

When I bought my Mk2 the alloys were all kerbed, had new Hankooks fitted as I thought they would have the ribbed wheel protector. But no, can still take great chunks out of the rims.

Know if I had them refurbed wouldnt last long.

Worse place is outside the house, must be a slight bend in our road and high kerbs.

Mine are away at the moment, should get them next week. Got mine down to £170 with the caps but thats with out tyre removal or refit and I sanded the curbing out by hand myself.

I look forward to seeing what sort of job he has done.

Most of mine have some minor kerbing. Used firm before and a first class job. Staying with silver against the xpg. About to order some centre cap badges off dazzer.

Any ideas on what colour to go for?

I paid £70 a corner at Renowheel in Bridgend, a bit more than I expected but they did a cracking job so it was worth it in the end.

I am having mine done on the Jag but I am waiting till at least March as its not impossible we could have another 6 weeks of salt on the roads, plus if it snows one little slide into the curb and ooops.

I was going to wait but with the Note off the road and needing two new tyres up front i bit the bullet and saved £20 on not having tyres fitted on my crap wheels for a few weeks before my planned refurb time.

Dropped her off at 8.30am yesterday short walk to work and collected her at 3.30pm. All four wheels now pristine in TWS Sport 1 silver with chrome valves. Courtesy of The Wheel Specialist. Just about to order new centre cap decals off dazzer. Pics on hold until new decals fitted. They look gorgeous though.

Look as good as new, like the centre caps.

Hope the valve caps are stainless, I bought some MG ones off ebay, welded themselves onto the valves. Had to have mole grips on the valves and a spanner on the caps and heaved with quite a bit of pressure to get them off. One stage thought I'd be down to the tyre place and get all new valves!!!!!!!!

Yes I've had this happen on another car. Had to hacksaw through the cap.

Just took my mg logo valve caps off and they have been on there a while. No problems at all. Secret is to vaseline the threads which I will have to do on these.

Straights do look really good on the ZS - I have some 11 spokes for on mine but after having them for nearly 2 years I'm still 50/50 on fitting them
