The ZS 180 was tested against some of the UK's fastest hot hatches and did quite well:D
heres the lap times for castle combe.

1. Clio 172 1.35.2
2. MGZS 180 1.35.7
3. 206 Gti 1.36.1
4. Civic Type R 1.36.2
5. MINI Cooper S 1.36.4
6. Astra Sri Turbo 1.36.7
7. Focus ST170 1.37.2
8. Corolla T Sport 1.37.5
9. Seat Leon Cupra 1.37.9
10. Fiat Stilo Arbarth 1.38.4
11 Alfa Romeo 147 2.0 1.39.7
12 VW Golf Gt Tdi 141.2

overall as a complete car it came 10/12 and the critisims were fair.

one quote i like......
"in a word the ZS was blinding around castle combe ;neat very well balenced ,with great steering, strong brakes, tons of grip and a good crisp gear change.and it was simply fast in a straight line -always a desirable commadity in a hot hatch"

respect to the 172 but where was the seat?????:D

Kev,

I read the article this lunchtime and would agree that what they said was fair-ish.

Good result for the Z that shows just how good a job the boys in Brum did to get the cars dynamics so sorted, especially when pitted against this tough new competition.

I am also pleased that it beat the the Supercharged Cowleymobile!!! :D :D

***-WHO??? ;)

Why do they never include the ZR in these test?
I'm sure it could hold its own against quite a few of the above cars

As it was a hot hatch test, why didn't they test the hatch rather than the saloon???

And yes, if it was supposed to be testing a broad range of hatches, then where was the ZR???

To a certain extent you are right ,what was the saloon doing in the test.Maybe They could of opted for the hatch back 180 but (contentious point)it might not of handled as well as the more rigid saloon.
As for the ZR , i think its in a group one below this with the ibiza, polo, fiesta &corsa

Car magazine did in their hot hatch of the year and the ZR came second :D
