Hi all,

I want to replace the crappy standard cassette player in my ZT. Any advice on head units that support the steering wheel controls?

Ideally a manufacturer that does SD head units and supports the standard CD changer as well would be useful.

Cheers in advance!

Cheers Mark. So the head unit needs IR controls to work with the wheel control buttons? Is this correct? I always had the Kenwoods as standard in all my MG's so that makes sense

I thought the OEM remote controls on the steering wheel were wired.

I believe they are, but you can swap the sensor under the eyebrow to the other side so the steering controls will work. Easy to do, just unclips, and clips back in. The holes are already there so it can be changed from side to side easily! :)

and if it is wired there is a plug you insert between the headunit and the standard ISO socket in the cars wiring and that connects the remote so no need for IR?
