OK,

I have lived all over England (well not too far north obviously) and would have been able to attend southern and midland meets.

HOWEVER!

I now live in scotland (glasgow) and there seems to be nothing catering for us up here north of the wall. The only other person attending Knockhill (according to the BTCC forum) is Kelvin, location = CAMBRIDGE!!!

Come on Scots MG Owners where the hell are you!!

true true

I seem to be living in the land of the "Modded" Corsa. quite a few few ZR's and a couple of ZS 120's but 180's are few and far between - kinda good really as I like the rariety(sp?)

besides fewer there are the more raised eyebrows when I spank them!! (inside the speed limits of course)

At Knockhill on Sunday noticed quite a few Z'S in car park and surrounding roads. So there are a few around.
I also like the feel of being exclusive in my 180 and it still turns heads as I drive down the High Street.
Why not test the water and see if there is any response to having a Scottish meet. You may be surprised!!!!

Scottish meet

Ian,

I have posted about 5 messages to this forum commenting on the lack of Zed owners from scotland on this site. I see about 3 a day just in town where my girlfreind stays (Irvine) and a couple if I am at my flat in Glasgow so I know they are out there!!! Although I have to say most are the little ZS and ZR's for the most part. yours is the first response I have had from someone else living up here.

Larry

PS where in south lanarkshire, plus details of your car please!!!

Mine = ZS 180 trophy blue SJ 51 V**

Hello,

Even if there are no new MGs anywhere else in Scotland there are loads here in Edinburgh. Don't drive one myself (have a Wolseley 18/22) but I see half a dozen each day on the roads or so. But up north here there isn't the interest in cars (beyond badly tarted up ones with body kits) that there is down south.

Those Scots living just the "wrong" side of the border (queue the backlash!) might be interested to know that Northern MG Owners Meet-Up #5 will take in the Lakes only, statrting in Ambleside and finishing in Windermere.

It's a fair old trek for us to get up there for the start so I guess it's not overly far for you to come down either.

We are just about to begin discussion about #5 and there already is the suggestion of staying in a cheap B&B on the Saturday (21st Sep) evening and having "an ale or two" in readiness for the next day.

Anyone interested should look at our route overview at www.nmgo.info (click 'events' then 'meet-up #5').

Meet-Up #4 held today - writing this whilst mentally and physically exhausted but know a fantastic time was had by all.

Maybe see you on #5?

On my drive to Scotland recently I saw no end of Zeds around the border region and indeed into Scotland. There seems to be no shortage of owners, maybe there is lack of 'internet' users in the area as a reason why this forum cannot find these people?

Larry,
There are ZED cars up here in Scotland in reasonable numbers. As Kelvin says it is not everybody that uses the internet (especially at my age).
I am based just outside Lanark and have a MG ZS 180 and guess what colour. Yes it's that ever popular Trophy Blue.
I ordered my car in Sept. 2001 when they first appeared in the showroom of Taggarts in Motherwell. Was probably the first to order one from them.
Test drove both the ZS and ZT but as my better half was requiring a new car at the same time could only afford the ZS otherwise I would probably have gone for the ZT. Maybe next time !!!

Agreed!

I agree. I see lots and lots of MG's up and around here just there are no owners on this forum except for me and you Ian!

I have started this forum in an attempt to drum up some interest. I am driving down to the northerns meet top get some idea of what a successful owners club meet should entail. I will of course make sure I take all of my vaccinations for going south of the wall again.

I have to say that the number fo Zeds at the Touring cars inspires soem confidence that there is the interest out there I just hope that they start plugging their computers in!

It would certainly be interesting to see how the NMGO format transfers to Scotland.

Scotland has some excellent driving roads, especially those valleys which keep in all that glorious engine sound.

Guys

you will have to just put word around and if you have chance to chat to any of the owners then do so I know I do and then mention the forum site. tell them to have a look and you may build a group of people like we in the other areas have done Good luck with the recruitments have fun :) :)

Scottish MG Fokes

I also stay in Scotland (Lanarkshire) and was dissapointed at the abundance of new age MG meetings i have went to a few clubs where their were lots of old MGs but no new one's.
I have a TF160 and would love it if all us Scottish MG folks could meet up so if anyone is up for it le me know and we can try and organise something.

I'd be interested in a MGR meet, too. I've got a ZR and live in Kinross (north of Edinburgh). I commute to Dundee, so if any of you do too you'll likely see me thundering up behind on the M90 =-) I see a few ZRs and ZTs on my travels, but I think the proportion of owners that would ever should up to a meet is probably in single digits.

Still - some's better than none. :)

ruudboy...welcome to the XPower BBS m8.

Just a quick note to all your Scots out there.

NMGO (Northern MG Owners) Meet-Up #5 has been rescheduled to Sunday 6th October with an overnight B&B stopover for those interested the night before. Our route will take us around the Lake District.

Take a look at www.nmgo.info, click events, click coming soon, then meet-up #5 for full details including pictures of the 1:3 gradients, the fantastic single track roads and further details.

Pictures, reports and video footage also available from previous events.

It's not all that far to bob down for the weekend and by staying overnight can make more of a weekend out of it.

Absolutely fcuk all m8!

I'm just keen to allow as many MG drivers the chance to come along and experience some fantastic roads and as you're all travelling from further afield, makes sense to join up with those of us stopping the night.

Neither Ian nor I gain anything at all from NMGO whatsoever, fiscally. There's no NMGO fees/costs/charges or anything. In fact, I'm out of pocket for registering the domain name.

We're just enthusiasts trying to promote an unofficial and much more "with it" enthusiasts gathering aimed specifically at the younger Zed, F and TF drivers. No flat caps here please!
