Hi guys,

Does anyone know where I can get the air duct that joins the air cleaner and resonator (items 1 and 4 on the diagram below)?

Air Duct diagram

Car: MGZS 180 2002 model.

Thanks!

It doesn't appear to be available separately, so I reckon the scrappies going to be the best hope.

Maybe put this into the wanted section, that's what I did. Definately has a better pull with that pipe connected. Does sound nice without it tho doesn't it? ;)

Cheers.

I'm having an issue with the idle revs hunting, when in traffic jams for over an hour. I've tried many things and thought that I'd try getting the duct.

I wouldnt bother connecting the resinator box back up.
As said it wont cause any idling issues out and it zaps a little power aswell.

Mine definately had better pick up when I connected it. Not drawing in all that hot air from the rad. Smoother pick up rather than much more speed etc.

If you have the pipe connected so it doesnt draw air by the rad and dont connect the box!
Been done on the RR years ago and the 180s tested with the boxs off made a couple of horses more iirc. Not that it would be noticable on the road though.

I have thought about doing that before to keep an slight induction roar but I am sure someone on here advised against it, something about puddles and water getting in the induction system, although I don't think it would as it would be sheilded behind the front bumper.
May give it a try when I am next off ;)

Have you had any of the Vis Valves off?

Possibly a air leak after throttle body?

Do you have a catch tank fitted?

I bought the car with the issue. I have since had the VIS valves off but it hasn't got any worse / better.

Also I don't have a catch tank fitted.

Thanks for the help though.

My pipe is off until I get around to fitting the Viper cold air induction to the inner wing. No puddles to worry about in Guernsey :) and it sounds much better :racer: - have a performance exhaust on as well which might be helping the engine breath out a little better.

Off topic: Might need to improve the brakes though..... had a sprint home down the lanes tonight and after 10 mins and a couple of anti lock moments on the dusty back road tarmac there was nothing left - faded altogether and I
had to back off. Got Honda uprated pads on (Green stuff equivalent) on standard discs....

Great fun though and she sounded lovely with all the windows down :)

Were the Gaskets inplace on both valves?

This can cause your problem.:)

Have you checked if the path that the throttle cable takes is free and that the cable isn't snagging on anything ? it was causing my problem with idle revs . . .

I think they were, I'll have to open them up again to have a check.

When I first tried to diagnose the problem I checked the cable. I can't imagine it is due to that just because it only becomes an issue in heavy queueing traffic when the car hasn't moved much in an hour or so.

The worst case the revs built upto 5k idle before I could park up (I was in the tunnel under Brussels).

TPS might need a clean.
What's the TPS?

Thanks again!
