Was done a few months ago, worked fine for a few days then just luke warm again!!
Had the compressor replaced last year and its been a bit dodgy since, the compressor does spin when the a/c button pressed and can hear it kick in etc

Any ideas???

I have noticed the nearside fan is very stiff and hard to turn by hand unless really pushed, is this the aircon fan or the normal rad fan??

Any ideas appreciated

Why was the compressor replaced and by who?

Air con system seals get dry and allow slow leaks, they can be cured by using adatives to the system.

Most garages only top up the system, make sure it is holding preseure and blowing colder than it was before, they wont check the car for slow leaks unless you ask them to and they will charge you for it.

When the compressor was replaced did they add fresh oil or just refrigerant?

The nearside fan does the aircon, if you use the car with the aircon on and then stop for a few minutes with the engine running the fan should be running.

You should get the other fan replaced, 1 day it will get so stiff it will cause the fuse to blow and then you'll have no fan, the first you know is when the car over heats.

It's the nearside fan that is stiff and doesn't spin, the drivers side one is fine and spins most of the time keeping things fresh lol

The compressor was chaned cos it seized and lots of smoke etc from the belt, it was reoiled, and the whole aircon was renewed and seals checked, to which 2 were duff

sounds like you need to sort out the fan issue first.

I had a similar experience; the resistor pack for the low sped fans failed, next issue was a seized compressor and smoking belt, likely caused by the fan issue.

There is a reason for everything, find the answer to the problem and it'll save you stabbing in the dark and chucking money at bogus ideas.

right well the ford aircon machine is usually a autoclimate or robinair machine, they will only pick up on a leak if its major, if they put dye in you might be able to see the leak, most common place for aircon leaks is the condensor (the aircon radiator) youll see if its got the dye as a flureasant green stain

If your main fan is failing you need to sort this before the air con, would be silly to post "my engine has seized because it over heated but the aircon is working"!!!!!

You did say the fan that is NOT working is the aircon fan, no??

Ordered a second hand unit with rad for £20 so can't be that bad lol

Still need it looked at, will do that once fans fitted

I did notice, there is some dye by the bulkhead near the fusebox area on the feed???? slow leak or just overspill??

I would wonder if the pipe joint near there (and the seal inside) are leaking, there shouldn't be any overfill as the connection is sealed when filling, wipe the dye off and see if it reapears.

You should also be able to see gas leaking if you use a UV light. I got a UV light from eBay for 1p (+£4.99 postage).

if its at one of the fill points then thats fine it just means that they have put the dye in the system,.
the way the arcon machines work is they recover all the old gas out the system, then they do a vac, this is meant to take about 20 minutes, this boils off any moisture in the system(aircon pag oil is hygroscopic like brake fluid so you want no water in the system)
then the machine does a leak test, now this doesnt usually pick up leaks as i said unless they are major,
then you charge the system with the gas and the oil, then you put the dye in.
if it was working for a couple of days after the regas then it stopped again id say its likely that there is a leak, try look at the radiator look for any patches ect, then at any of the joints

Sounds like you should get the car into a specialist. £40 or so would have a dye check carried out and you'd know exactly what to do.

After you've fixed the condensor fan, of course.
