Techspeed - who are we?

Tech-Speed have competed at the top level of the MGF Cup over the last couple of years. During that time they have spoken to many MGF owners and discussed the handling and the appearance of the road cars. It became apparent that there was a core of enthusiastic MGF owners who were looking for a more slick lowline look to their cars.

Tech-Speed proceeded to bring the knowledge and tricks learnt on the circuits to the road. The aim was to produce a lower look to the car but at the same time enhance the handling. Attempts to lower the ride height by dropping the pressure in the hydragas system whilst producing the desired visual appearance softens the suspension. Therefore, the suspension is not working as intended, which could give rise to poor handling. Additionally owners who have used this option frequently report excessive tyre wear with consequent higher running costs.

Suspension Packages

1) Reduce ride height by 25-30 mm with lowering knuckles and pistons to improve the vehicles stance (looks good in the pub car park). £220.00

2) As above with the addition of Bilstein monotube gas dampers manufactured to Tech-Speed road settings plus rear trailing arm compliance washers, geometry re-set to Tech-Speed specification and wheel alignment carried out on their racecar flat patch. The stance, roll resistance, handling and steering response are much improved giving the driver better feedback and introducing the fun element (doesn't rattle your fillings). £595.00

3) The "TF" steering rack can be fitted which gives a 10% reduction in ratio and reduces response time (stop the sideways slide earlier). £245.00

4) A polyurethane bush kit when fitted reduces the suspension compliance and thus increase the sharpness of the handling (stop all round sag). 420.00

Package A combines (2) with (3) to dramatically improve the vehicles ride and handling. £420.00

Package B combines (2), (3) and (4) to give handling qualities comparables to a racecar.

Performance Packages

1) ITG Air Filter assembly reduces induction restriction and draws cold air from the left hand grill to enhance cylinder filling. £280.00

2) 52mm alloy Throttle Body as fitted to current 160ps achieves higher flow characteristics and does not distort a s the plastic unit. £135.00

3) Phoenix free low exhaust system reduces back pressure which liberates a power gain and is manufactured in stainless steel. £295.00

Package A combines (2) with (3) to dramatically improve the vehicles ride and handling. £420.00

Package B combines (1), (2) with (3) to produce approximately 8% more power. £675.00

4) Quickshift gear linkage developed by Tech-Speed allows you to find all those gear precisely and quickly in order to make the best use of the extra power (third gear is no longer a distant memory). £180.00

Brake upgrades to customers request.

General Upgrades

1) "A" Service. From £135.00     5 year 60,000 mile service. From £370.00

2) Mechanical repair work and problem solving undertaken at their workshop rate of £30.00/hr + components (dealers welcome).

3) Power unit and transmission modification to customer request. P.O.A.

4) Trophy front bumper lip extension to reduce lift, in customer body colour and fitted. £225.00

5) Trophy rear spoiler in customer body colour and fitted (aesthetic purposes only and fitted). £285.00

6) The renowned "four nipple job" to allow each Hydragas unit to be individually adjusted, used mostly by track day enthusiasts. Reduces the pitching caused by fluid transfer (normally carried out when fitting the suspension kit). £295.00
