Heavily
modified MGF 1.8i, purchased on Feb 24th 1996 she now has 109,000
miles on the clock.

Serious
accident on Feb 8th 2003 resulted in a 6-month rebuild live on the
Internet by the owner (www.sfforever.co.uk), including step-by-step photographs
of the entire strip down and stage photographs of the rebuild works. The website is now a useful resource on how
to perform a vast amount of DIY jobs on the car.
Rebuild
completed by the MGF Centre in Wolverhampton, including the paintwork, which
consists of two unique colours based on the Rover Palette – the stripe is part
of the paintwork – it is not vinyl. The
red is Flame Red and the cream is Sandalwood Beige, but both colours have a
large flake gold metallic lacquer.

The colours are supposed to hark back to the 1950s/60s
Abingdon works cars (Tartan Red with Old English White hardtops), but brought
up to date with the metallic lacquer and the X-Power inspired stripe.
This philosophy seems
appropriate given the MGF has some retro features. Like the MGB inspired nosecone and T –Type MG
badge mounted on a shield to link it to the previous generations of MG, yet at
the same time looks to the future with the mid-engine/RWD configuration and
wedge profile.
The
car has been comprehensively modified inside and out over the past 8 years, red
and cream leather trim with walnut dash panels and alloy/chrome brightwork
inside coupled with a lowered stance, uprated brakes, steering and significant
engine modifications under the skin compliment the exterior styling. |
